Our Programs

As part of our community advocacy and education, Magen Am provides public firearms training classes, and is working on sponsorship to be able to offer free self-defense classes.

Pricing

Sunday classes (Pistols 101, 102, and 1) cost $200/participant if you bring your own ammo. If you need Magen Am to provide ammo, there is an additional, flat $75 ammo fee. Please note that we can only provide 9 mm ammo. If you do not have a handgun to use, please let us know when registering, and we will have one available for you to borrow, free of charge.

Private sessions are offered in 2 hour time slots. The cost is $250/hour for instructor time plus $100/participant (this includes ammo for all participants). The cost is totaled and divided by the number of participants for a per person cost. For instance, if 4 people wanted a private session, the cost would be as follows:

$250/hour for 2 hours = $500

$100/participant for 4 participants = $400

Total cost = $900

Cost per participant = $900 divided by 4 people = $225/person

Magen Am is currently working on obtaining funds for training scholarships

Self Defense Classes

Magen Am plans to offer free self defense classes to the community. We are looking for sponsorships. Please contact Admin@MagenAmUSA.org for more details.

Pistol 101

Our Pistol 101 class is designed to give shooters a solid understanding of firearms safety and function, proper range etiquette, loading and unloading procedures, and the 7 elements of marksmanship. These are the fundamental building blocks for all firearm applications. If you are a new firearm owner, or you have been to the range several times but would like to improve your accuracy and control, this is a great class to join. If precision is not a problem, but you would like to shoot faster, we will discuss the tools for that as well.

Pistol 101

Cost:

The cost for Pistol 101 is $250.  Magen Am will provide a firearm and ammo.  If you have your own gear and would like to train with your own pistol and ammo, please enter the Coupon Code NoRental at checkout.  This will reduce your cost by $50.  (We generally use between 50-100 rounds of ammo per class). Please note that if you enter this code, Magen Am will not be supplying you with a firearm and ammo at the class.

Cancellation policy:

If you cancel more than 7 days before your session, we will return 95% of your fees.  (This amount is less than 100% only because of fees we incur). If you cancel within 7 days of your session, we will return 50% of your fees.

Pistol 1

You must have completed Pistol 101 in order to register for this class

For those who still struggle with accuracy, or have not yet studied the safety and mechanics of a firearm, our Pistol 101 or private sessions would be a good step before attending this class. If you are currently in, or have recent experience in, law enforcement and the military, or have recent firearms training with a trainer, you may be able to skip straight to Pistol 1.  You may contact admin@magenamusa.org to discuss this further.

Our Pistol 1 class is designed to help shooters learn proper manipulations of a firearm. This includes draw stroke, clearing of stoppages, reloads, ready positions, and target transitions. This class is not intended for first-time shooters. At the completion of Pistol 1, students may elect to take a qualification course based on speed, accuracy, and safety that shows proficiency in the course material. Those who pass the course will receive a certificate of completion, allowing them to attend more advanced classes. Please note that participants are not expected to pass these quals after a single day of training new material. Our expectation is that individuals spend time outside of courses to practice technique using “dry fire” or “airsoft”, or by attending multiple classes.

Please note the following requirements for holsters used in this class: The holster needs to be made specifically for your model firearm. It should be made of hard material. It cannot be an index finger retention device like the Serpa; it must be thumb retention or passive retention holster.

Pistol 2

Objectives of Pistol 2 involve breaking down the shooting platform.  This means we will be shooting on the move, and shooting from behind cover.  We will specifically be learning about cover and concealment and how to shoot from compromised shooting positions.

Pistol 3

You MUST have completed Pistol 2 in order to register for this class.

Pistol 3 is the stress test for the skills taught in the earlier level classes. This class allows participants to test their ability to execute all training manipulations and skills under stressful conditions, to simulate a real-life encounter. This class includes scenario drills, wherein the participant will need to solve problems quickly, under pressure, and be able to justify why they took these specific actions. This class is critical for anyone considering carrying a firearm in self-defense. Please note the following requirements for holsters used in this class: The holster needs to be made specifically for your model firearm. It should be made of hard material. It cannot be an index finger retention device like the Serpa; it must be thumb retention or passive retention holster.
